BMX

BMX is one of the most popular street sports around at the moment. It’s always had something of cult following and has seen it’s far share of peaks and troughs over the decades, but it’s versatility and practicality make it one of those sports that is here to stay.

The different types of BMX riding include: Street – which is essentially an urban sport where you ride around looking for things to jump off and grind along. Vert – where you get massive air off a half pipe and pull some insane grabs, spins and flips. Freestyle – where you show your flair and control of the bike by doing lots of ground tricks, with little air. Dirt – racing round a dirt track against other riders and taking rollers and berms at high speed.

So as you can see there are lots of varieties and types of BMX to suite all tastes. And you’ll notice differences in all the bikes and accessories also. Furthermore, most BMX bikes can be used as a mode of transportation, and when you can ride your equipment to and from where you perform, that makes it very appealing.

Depending on what type of BMXing you’re into, you’ll be wanting specific bike specs, accessories and even safety equipment. For example, if you’re a dirt BMX rider you’ll probably want a much lighter bike and more protective gear than if you’re specialised in freestyle BMX.
