Mens Rash Vests
First came wetsuits, and then came rash vests...and boy were we grateful when they arrived. As the name suggests they were first intended to be a guard against friction rashes that were common when people moved about in their wetsuits. Over the years however they have become ever more functional, from acting as another insulating layer to being a storage place for your keys when it’s too warm for a wetsuit.
As with wetsuits, men’s rash vests come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some have high collars to give extra protection to the neck, which is one of the most common places to pick up a rash. Some have short arms that can be used under a wetsuit in slightly warmer waters. You can even get sleeveless rash vests which tend to allow more movement at the shoulder, especially if you’re wearing a wetsuit that is 5:3 or thicker. In the summer months rash vest can often replace wetsuits altogether, providing a thin layer of insulation, but mainly protecting your skin against the elements.
