Mens Wetsuits
Maybe the greatest invention known to man, the humble wetsuit has allowed us to venture into waters no human would brave before. OK so maybe a few people braved the water, but it can’t have been anywhere near as fun with exposed skin. There are so many varieties of wetsuit these days and can be hard to keep track of what each one is for. You’ve got back-zip wetsuits, chest zip wetsuits, shorties, winter wetsuits, hooded wetsuits...the list goes on.
It is a common misconception that wetsuits stop water from getting in, but in fact they actually do the opposite – they stop water from getting out. They are permeable, but once water gets in it is warmed up the body and this warm water finds it difficult to escape again, providing you with a nice little water-blanket of warmth. Of course, most wetsuits are not designed for freezing water, but the best winter wetsuits (with hood and boots) can protect you down to around 10 degrees Celsius of water temperature, which is pretty cold. You might need to don a rash rest as well for extra warmth.
You don’t have to stick to the standard black these days either. A number of big names have brought out multicoloured and even white wetsuits. You’ll have to work pretty hard not to get that dirty though!
