Skating Helmets
Skating is a very deceptive sport in terms of safety. Often people think that because skates or blades are so responsive, you have a great chance of correcting yourself if you make a wrong move and thus risk of injury is less. It is true that skaters tend not to have very serious injuries when compared to other extreme sports, but they actually have a higher number of accidents than many other sports.
Things like wrist and ankle injuries are very common, but it’s also incredible important to protect the head at all times. This is why the sporting body that looks after skating, and all the pro roller skaters recommend wearing a good helmet at all times, even if you’re not trying massive tricks or big grinds. A skating helmet can even protect you from other riders who might have misjudged their speed or landing. Injuries caused by other skaters are very common and often very serious as you haven’t got as much time to react.
