Skiing

Skiing has seen a massive resurgence in recent years, after those who tried snowboarding and didn’t like it have come back to the mother-sport. Having said this, skiing has always been a massively popular pastime due to the fact it is the primary method of transport in many countries. Cross country skiing actually has higher participation figures than downhill skiing, but this is likely out of necessity rather than preference.

We at Extreme Sports Trader love all forms of skiing, but it has to be said that downhill is our favourite. What can we say, we’re adrenaline junkies. Thankfully there are innovations in downhill skis every year for us to get excited about, and the performance of modern skis just keeps getting better. Recent developments include micro chips being included in skis which tell the material to stiffen up at key moments, thus giving better control and helping to maintain speed. We’re also seeing ski-boots that have a clip on the heel that allows you to bend your foot whilst walking and make it rigid again whilst skiing. So no more walking about the ski lodge looking like you’ve wet yourself!
