Snowboard Accessories

Snowboarding is very much a sport of equipment and accessories. Not only do you have to kit yourself out with special snowboarding jackets and snowboard pants, and get all your snowboard gear such as bindings, boots and not to mention a board, you also need lots of other bits. People don’t often consider just how many other little bits you might need to get on the slopes and have a good time on your snowboard, but here are few to consider –

Snowboard wax is required to keep snow from gripping to the underside of the board when riding and to give you extra speed. A snowboard leash might be needed to stop your board running away from you. Stomp pads are often needed to provide a grippy place to place your foot whilst riding lifts or skating the board. You might need a snowboard lock if you plan to leave your snowboard on a rack, perhaps whilst you get something to eat and drink. Snowboard tool sets are a vital accessory for letting you make changes or repairs to your setup, of even just tightening up some bolts.

You then have to consider some of the safety gear you should be taking out with you. Wrist guards prevent some of the most common injuries on the slopes, as do padded shorts and spine protectors. And how about a radio transceiver should you be planning to do some off-piste riding where your risk of being caught in an avalanche is vastly higher. If you are then it pays to take a snow probe with you as well to help test the snow compaction or locate buried people if the worst should occur.
