Snowboard Goggles
Snowboard goggles play a vital role in the sport, not only protecting the eyes against harmful UV rays and snow spray, but also preventing you getting dazzled by the sun as it reflects off the white snow, which is potentially very dangerous. Snow blindness is in fact very common and is one of those things that can be easily prevented in this day and age.
Snowboard goggles used to be no more than glorified sunglasses that had a tinted lens and a strap to keep them on your head. These glasses were not very effective at keeping snow spray out of the eyes however, and so wrap-around goggles where produced that sat very close to the face and were sealed with foam. This created another problem however as the goggles would steam up as the face heated the air inside them. To counter this manufactures developed effective ventilation systems for the goggles and fitted them with anti-fog lenses, and thus the modern snowboard goggle was born.
These days there is massive variety on the market with all sorts of shapes and colour schemes. You can even get lenses designed for various weather conditions and visibility, and some of the best goggles let you interchange the lenses with ease. When buying a pair of snowboard goggles, visibility and comfort are the two main criteria to look out for. There is nothing worse than spending a day riding your board or skis with a sore face.
